This is an image of actual people that Louis photographed and then developed into a composition to produce an oil painting from. The symbolization for the composition follows.

The woman with the children represents all adults in the world. Everyone of us have not only a responsibility, but a mandate from God to help children in any way we can.

The child on the woman’s back represents the weight of responsibility we have to care for children and the pure joy it is to love them.

The child standing and leaning into the woman represents the needs children have to be taken care of spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically.

The bricks on the ground represent broken families and the devastation of individual lives of children around the globe.

The flowers and butterflies represent new life and hope that we can give to children in need.

The big circle behind the woman represents the world and how we, as humans, affect it and its inhabitants.

The eagle in the big circle represents how we as humans have the ability to soar to great heights of compassion when we set our minds to it.

The dove coming out of the small circle represents the availability and presence of the Holy Spirit to comfort and assist those who believe and have a desire to help others.

The children in the background, most of whom will have no facial features in the painting, represent the countless children in the world who are the forgotten ones. They have no future….. They have no name….. If you will take a moment and place yourself into their minds, I believe your thoughts about their daily life and survival will take on a whole new meaning.

In the books of Mathew 19:4, Mark 10:14, and Luke 18:16 in the Bible, Jesus said “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Friends, these Bible verses are not a suggestion. They are a call to action from God. When children’s basic needs are not met physically, mentally, and spiritually, they truly are hindered and devastated.

This painting is about love, passions of the heart, the joy of living, the simple things in life, and about the things in life that we, as humans, cannot see. It’s about the spiritual world, the physical world, and the interactions between them. In this example, the boy is totally unaware of anything but fishing and his dog. The dog is more in tune with nature and senses something, but cannot see it. In the spiritual realm, Christ is assigning an angel to be with the boy. I enjoyed showing the interaction of both worlds.
